With changing stitch directions I knew there would be awkward places where stitches on one diagonal met the other diagonal at right angles, but I was able to devise a way of stitching to overcome it fairly well. It was a very challenging piece of work, and the different stitch directions have inevitably caused a bit of distortion.
The whole object is formed from one continuous length, starting at one orange end, and finishing at the other.
